Dr. Applewhite graduated from Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1992.
He attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine and obtained his MD in 1997.
Upon graduation, he began a vigorous career in cardiology and internal medicine until being
selected as the Director and Lead for the Hospitalist program at Decatur General Hospital
in Alabama in 2002; the year received his board certification.
He returned to Illinois in 2005 and began to work at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
He continues to work at Riverside, where he is a Physician Advisor and is currently Medical Director and President/CEO of FiveApples/Inpatient Specialist, LLC, which specializes in acute/critical patient care, pre- and post-operative clearance and venous/arterial access.
Deborah is a Board Certified Advanced Practice Nurse. She obtained her ADN from
Presentation College in 1979. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from
the University of St Francis in 2001, where she also completed her Masters Degree in Nursing in 2006.
Deborah's career focus has been in Adult Medicine and she has worked in various
speciality areas: cardiology, general medicine internal medicine, geriatrics. She also
has an in depth knowledge of patient care with specific high risk disorders: diabetes,
hypertension, cardiac and thyroid disorders. She currently works at Five Apples/Inpatient
Specialists providing office and hospital inpatient care.
